Report: C.J. Anderson expected to be out 2-8 weeks

Denver Broncos v San Diego Chargers

This doesn’t narrow things down too much, but according to Pro Football Talk Broncos running back C.J. Anderson will miss between two and eight weeks after having surgery on his torn meniscus.

Since Anderson had a repair and not a cleanup, his absence seems more likely to lean toward the higher end of that timeline. However, even eight weeks is more optimistic than the outlook in a report by Ian Rapoport of NFL.com that said Anderson’s recovery will be measured in months.

That said, eight weeks is about two months. So perhaps both reports are right.

Anderson has run for 437 yards this season, an average of 4.0 yards per carry. He’ll be replaced by rookie Devontae Booker, who has run for 244 yards this season and is averaging 4.8 yards per carry. Booker has shown some promise, and there’s a chance the Broncos won’t suffer too much in Anderson’s absence.
