Report: Jamie Collins Traded To Cleveland For Third Round Draft Pick

Dickey

As the trade deadline approaches it seems the Patriots have made a move. Per Adam Schefter of ESPN the Patriots have traded star linebacker Jamie Collins to Cleveland for a compensatory third-round draft pick. Jamie Collins scheduled for unrestricted free agency after the season

This trade it rather surprising but I have heard from some sources that the Patriots were having a hard time negotiating contracts with Collins. My source would also go on to say he did not want to take a hometown discount to stay with the Patriots.

So with this trade going through it seems the Patriots should start looking to sign Dont’a Hightower long term. To me, this trade does not add up totally as I think we will see another one coming in the next day or so. I don’t think the Pats are done wheeling and dealing just yet.

Ian Rapoport also said he talked to Bus Cook (Jamie Collins agent) and he said “I spoke to him. He’s excited about getting over there.” How excited could he really be he is going from a 7-and-1 playoff team to a 0-and-8 maybe we will win a game this year team. I think there is more to this story that will be coming out soon.
