It appears that there will be a new doctor in Tinseltown, in the form of Doc Rivers.
According to ESPNBoston.com, the Los Angeles Clippers and the soon-to-be former Boston Celtics head coach have reached an agreement in principle on a three-year $21 million deal.
As part of the deal, the Clippers will send a 2015 first round pick to Boston as compensation. Rivers had three years and $21 million remaining on his current deal with the Celtics.
In going from Boston to Los Angeles, Rivers will go from coaching one of the NBA’s top point guards in Rajon Rondo to perhaps the best in the game in Chris Paul.
What this means for the Clippers chances in resigning Paul remain to be seen, but in landing a proven veteran coach in Rivers, Lob City is off to a promising start in the hopes of retaining him.
