Reshad Jones to hold out

TMS1-7

Dolphins defensive star, Reshad Jones, is planning to hold out of offseason activities in search for a new contract. There is no doubt that Jones is one of the best safeties in the NFL. He turned in his best performance during the 2015 season, earning a Pro Bowl nod as an alternate.

The problem with this situation, is that Jones just signed this contract in 2013 and still has two years left on his current deal. He is also just a season removed from being suspended due PED use.

Also lets not forget Jones is currently the highest paid player at his position, but now it seems as if he wants to be one of the paid Safeties.

Mike Tannenbaum has been down this road before. When he was GM for the New York Jets, star defensive back, Darrell Revis, held out until the middle of training camp. Tannenbaum and company eventually caved. It will most certainly be interesting to see what transpires. It would not be a good precedent to set.

Personally, I believe it should be at least another year for before the Dolphins consider this. He has played 1 outstanding season. I would make him do it again. If Jones can duplicate or exceed his 2015 season, then I would be all in for redoing the contract. There is a right way and wrong way to go about this. Jones is definitely on the wrong side of this deal.
