Welcome to the leastern conference where hopes are so high watch for low blows and crunching tackles. Who knows who will sneak into the playoffs, so, let’s scrap, Dynamo!
Didier Domi is out? We haven’t even seen Ousman Dabo yet, the other French defender signed this offseason, and now Domi is out? He at least pushes forward and offers intriguing passes from the fullback position. Dabo is likely still out as he regains fitness after apparently regaining his health. Luckily, Matt Reis will return to goal and will not face Brian Ching who is the most notable absence for the Dynamo. We can’t go any further without noting the GAPING HOLE in the Revolutin midfield as both Shalrie Joseph and Pat Phelan will sit with red cards they received against the RSL second string. Stephen McCarthy, here is your chance, six games into your rookie season to show your stuff. Who else will start in mid field?
Maybe it is the way the Boston Celtics have played to close out their season? Or it could be that in preseason people predicted that DC, Portland, and Vancouver would struggle and the Revolution only managed one win against those three? The Galaxy getting stonewalled by the rest of MLS so far is tarnishing that season opening tie in Los Angeles. I’m not confident about how this New England team has played.
Perhaps the new Dane, Rajko Lekic, if his ITC comes through in time, can step in and elevate our goal scoring threats. I consider Houston a rival because there was a stretch where we played them in three finals – an MLS Cup, a US Open Cup, and Superliga. We took Superliga. I’m reluctant to make a prediction about this game because I still can’t tell where this Revolution team fits into our league, yet. I do think that Houston and New England are in similar situations with rosters made up of holdovers from earlier successes, new players working to get familiar, and young players that the team’s each hope grow into contributing veterans.
I’ll be at the game in Houston and I’ll share my impressions early next week.
