Yes, that actually happened I am not lying when I say Roger Goodell thinks these refs are doing a great job. He made that statement at the December League meeting in Irving, Texas earlier today. But that is not all as he spent over 20 minutes on the subject of the referees. During the 20 minute ramble he covered stuff like how they clarify the rulebook and how they have tried to change.
This sounds fantastic and all but it’s not working. The referees are missing more calls than ever and look like they are clueless out there. Instead of owning up to the poor officiating Goodell tried to take a different route and blame technology saying “”I think what we see now through technology is we see things we could never see before.” Technology is great and all but that is no excuse to why you are calling offensive pass interference because a defender that fell.
We can tell Goodell is not too worried about officiating as him and his staff moved Pete Morelli and crew to the Patriots vs. Eagles. Morelli was suppose to be the official for the Sunday night matchup between the Clots and Steelers, but after his crew made quite a few mistakes they moved them to the Pats game and Ron Torbert will take the Sunday night game. “It is what it is” as Belichick once said, it will be an interesting one Sunday afternoon.
In a league where this summer we figured out how corrupt they really are they are making no attempts to make it better. But why would Goodell want to make it better for the players and the teams he is still making money and a lot of it. At the end of the year this won’t matter at all, Goodell uniformity will still be the commissioner next year and making his small pay check of 44 million for running one of the most corrupt organizations. Roger the fans are not stupid; we are just addicted to football.
