Romo Must Notch Decisive Win Against 49ers

Romo’s meltdown last sunday night has dragged on like a bad headcold and hasn’t gone away. The talk all week has centered around Romo’s implosion, and to avoid all doom and gloom scenarios, Romo must defeat the 49ers in a decisive manner. If Romo can play like he did against the Jets (oustide the last 5 mins), then this will be an easy win, and he should light up the 49ers defense. Any turnovers and stupid mistakes and the grumblings will boil over; morever, a loss would really begin fan outrage across the board. Fans have been very forgiving and patient with Romo, but there’s a consensus building that Romo must show something this year or else.

Offensively speaking, Dez Bryant will be a game-time decision, and even if he does play, he won’t be anything near 100%. Expect to see the Cowboys test the 49ers run defense early and then open it up with Witten, Austin, and Ogletree. The Cowboys running game needs to get going, I want to see Felix run outside, and grab some screen passes. Sprinkle in some Murray and Choice in there as well.

I like our odds on offense, but I really like our odds on defense for today’s game.

49ers QB Alex Smith isn’t very accurate and crumbles with pressure in his face. I fully expect Rob Ryan to dial-up some creative and ferocious blitzes all day long. It should be a long day for Smith, but Gore could help out, and this will be one focus on the defensive side of the ball. The defense needs to close the running lanes, and wrap up people with solid tackling.

On paper, this should be close to a blowout. I fully expect Garrett to have this team well prepared again, and focused on each of their drives on offense and defense. Like any other game, turnovers and momentum shift will be the great equalizer, so like everyone else, all eyes will be on Romo.
