AP – Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo has been named the NFC Offensive Player of the Week for Week 1. Romo completed 15-of-24 passes for 345 yards with five touchdowns, four passing and one rushing, during the team’s season.
The four touchdown passes were the most thrown by a Dallas quarterback on opening weekend since Troy Aikman tossed five touchdowns in 1999. Also, the 45 points scored were the most in a Cowboys opener since 1971.
It is Romo’s third career player of the week award.
