Coming off of a subpar trade deadline the Bruins managed to put together a win vs. Calgary on Tuesday night. But the road ahead is not looking good for the Bruins as they will be playing 4 very hard and important games within the next week. The next 10 of the 11 opponents are teams in the playoffs, so every game matters from here on out. But the next 4 are going to be some of the hardest.
Tonight the Bruins will take on Patrick Kane the Blackhawks. The Blackhawks come into Boston tonight 1st in the Central Division with a 40-20-5 record. The Blackhawks will always give the Bruins a hard game as they match-up very well with us. It’s hard to stop players like Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews, but I think the Bruins will be up to the challenge. Tuukka has always shown up in big games so I expect him to start picking up the team in the next couple of games. We know he can play against the Blackhaws he all saw in the Cup Finals just a couple of years ago. So don’t count the Bruins out of this game, I have a feeling they are going to play them very hard.
On Saturday the Bruins will take on the Washington Capitals. The combination of Alex Ovechkin and Braden Holtby scares me a little. Holtby has always had the Bruins number as he has mostly been a wall when he plays against the Bruins. The Caps are hot right now winning 7 of their last 10 games. This will be an interesting one as the Bruins have had a hard time with the Capitals this season, but hopefully we can find a way to get the two points.
The Bruins will next take the tour of Florida as they will play the Panthers on Monday and the Lightning on Tuesday. This is a huge trip for the Bruins as a sweep of it would be great for the Bruins emotionally as well as in the standings. If we could pull 4 points out of this trip that would be huge as the Bruins have had difficulty beating the Lightning and the Panthers earlier this year. Even if we split it is not the worst thing, but there are only two team ahead of us for the Atlantic Division and they both play in Florida. This is a huge road trip for the Bruins.
