Sacramento Kings: C Cousins Signs Four-Year, $62 Million Extension

According to media reports, Sacramento Kings’ center DeMarcus Cousins signed a new four-year $62 million extension with Sacramento Kings.

There were rumors that Cousins would sign a deal worth a reported $80 million, but the Kings and his agent decided that, in this situation, a four-year deal is better than a five -year deal.

Many people thought that Cousins would leave Sacramento next summer via free agency.

At just 23 years of age, Cousins has a lot of potential, and NBA experts say that his only problem is that he still hasn’t matured. Cousins averaged 17 points and nearly ten rebounds a game for the Kings last season. He was the fifth overall pick in the 2010 draft and he is the third player from the 2010 draft class that has signed an extension. John Wall of the Washington Wizards and Paul George of the Indiana Pacers are the other two players who have inked multi-year extensions.

Sacramento is hoping that Cousins will eventually develop into their franchise player, after inking Cousins, it’s clear that they will build their team around him and try to get back to the playoffs, like they with Vlade Divac, Peja Stojakovic, Mike Bibby and Chris Webber.
