If the lockout ends before training camp is set to start, then it’ll be hosted completely in San Antonio. The Cowboys are entering the final year of the 5yr contract with San Antonio which let’s the Cowboys practice in the Alamodome, rent free during the training camp dates.
According to Tom Osborn at MySanAntonio.com the Cowboys have submitted the training camp dates to San Antonio and the Alamodome:
Michael Sawaya, director of the City of San Antonio’s convention, sports and entertainment facilities department, said the Cowboys have informed him that should the lockout end in time for teams to train in normal fashion camp would run from July 25-Aug. 13 entirely in San Antonio.
“Those are the dates they have communicated us, and I don’t think we have any choice but to hold those dates,” Sawaya said. “I don’t think anyone is in a position to say definitively whether there is going to be a season or not. All we know is that if there is going to be a season, they plan to be here and we have to be ready.”
It would be nice if the lock out ended tomorrow, but nothing has indicated this will resolve itself any time soon. We’ll just have to see how this plays out. Do you think we’ll see training camp July 25th? Chime in on the message boards!
