The Cowboys officially parted ways with offensive coordinator Scott Linehan on Friday, as someone had to fall on the sword for the inconsistency the team showed on offense this season.
And given that Dak Prescott showed signs of improvement, he still has some issues to work out — specifically the drastic difference in play when home vs on the road. His accuracy still could be improved, and while he’s shown flashes of greatnesses, the team will likely look to bring in a coordinator that can work with him.
Enter Tony Romo.
The former Cowboys quarterback (who is now an analyst for CBS) has one of the highest football IQs of any ex-NFLer, and he can see the game/diagnose plays as well as anyone. Fans have been calling on the Cowboys to hire him as offensive coordinator since Linehan was fired.
Hey #dallascowboys #Tonyromo wants to run the offense. I'd love to see that happen.

Bob Sturm of The Athletic doesn’t believe it will happen.
We live in a sports city where some people seem to think Tony Romo would be interested in quitting the #1 analyst job at CBS (estimated: $5m-$10m annually) to be a coordinator under Jason Garrett. You should not allow yourself to be one of these people.

Sure, it’s unlikely that Romo would leave his cushy booth gig to coach under Jason Garrett, and work alongside the quarterback to replace him. But he does appear to want to get into coaching some day, and he has strong ties to the team. Crazier things have happened, especially in Dallas, so we can’t rule it out. We’d love to see Romo back on the football field in Big D.
