St. Louis is still salty of the Rams relocation back to Los Angeles

The Los Angeles Rams have played two preseason games thus far in the 2016 season, and of course there has to be one local news station in St. Louis to start comparing. This article and research has been done by the St. Louis Dispatch:

The Rams nearly had about 160,000 plus fans in their first two preseason games in total, but did anybody watch the game at home?

“The Rams’ new home market barely beat the one it just departed in terms of ratings for the club’s game on Saturday night, against Kansas City.” – STL Dispatch Oh please tell me more

The telecast was seen in 3.4 percent of homes with a TV in the Los Angeles market, only slightly ahead of the 3.2 figure in St. Louis. That’s according to Nielsen, which tabulates ratings. It’s a major fall in LA over the previous week, when the rating for the team’s first game there in 22 seasons was 6.9.

First, let’s put that percent of homes with a TV to the test shall we? LA market had 186,000 TV households (3.4 rating) on Saturday. STL market had 39,000 TV households (3.2 rating). Last season Rams preseason averaged 9.4 rating which translates to 114,000 TV households. LA can get as low as a 2.1 rating in preseason and still beat that number as far as total households.

“And the rating Saturday in Los Angeles was far below what the Rams were drawing on St. Louis TV for exhibition contests. In the last five years, the lowest Rams rating during the preseason was 6.7.” – STL Dispatch. Once again the Rams can have a lower rating in LA and still beat the total viewers in St. Louis. Another reason why the game was so high in St. Louis was because the Kansas City Chiefs played.

The Chiefs highly advertised throughout the week that all St. Louis fans should watch the game and “root” against the Rams. Let’s see the ratings when a team not from Missouri is playing against the Rams.

Another key reason, IT’S FREAKING PRESEASON. If this was halfway through the regular season and there were more viewers when the Rams played in St. Louis, then we can talk. However it’s preseason folks. This “slap” on the city of Los Angeles is like two fans fighting during the preseason saying which team is better because they scored more points.

The correlation of TV ratings of the two preseason games is pretty low and idiotic if you ask me. Looks like St. Louis Dispatch is running out of topics to write about. Kind of like the fans in St. Louis who slowly stopped coming to support the Rams. Welcome home Los Angeles Rams.
