The Swirling Story Of Malcolm Butler

fansandmediabook

NFL Network and multiple other stations have reported and agree that Super Bowl 49 savior and Patriots CB Malcolm Butler has in fact skipped voluntary OTA’s Thursday and the projected reason for his absence is because of his expiring rookie contract at the end of this year.

Butler had a quiet rookie campaign and was overlooked by everyone until the big game happened February of 2014. The West Alabama DII corner was looking for an opportunity and he received one with Belichick and company in 2014 as he signed as an unsigned free agent and turned out be the most popular player from the Patriots after the Super Bowl 49 victory.

After his stellar catch at the goal line during his rookie year, Butler followed up on his rookie campaign with a 67 tackle, 2 sack sophomore year and is entering his third year with the Patriots.

The contract, if that’s the reason why Butler is skipping OTA’s, could be  trouble point for the Patriots if they can’t resign him but the man is working his rear off to play for one of the most complex teams in the NFL.

Money wise, I don’t know what Butler is looking for in his new contract but it would be quite more than what he is making now. Although Butler is entering his 3rd year, he needs to stay humble, as he has been doing, and await for what the Patriots organization offers him and if he is not interested, then you can assume the ties have been cut and Butler is moving onto his new home but for now, he is a Patriot and I personally want him to be a Patriot and provide leadership and clutchness to this 2016 team and beyond.
