Greetings, Bronco Nation, from the Office of Orange Jacket Guy; it is again a distinct honor to write to you. The time of our glorious Broncos is upon us, and there is no better time than opening day to lay the opening volley in the battle for the season. Washington's blessing upon their new hallowed ground will be their curse for generations to come.
I'm not sure exactly what Washington was thinking when they made the active decision to play Boise State in the first game in their new stadium. Was it a statement of ease? Was it percieved worthiness of a respected enemy? Was it to offer themselves upon a new altar of college football? The answers are unclear, but the outcome of the game is more certain.
One would think, as a measure of good luck, that you'd want an easy team when you're breaking in a new facility. This however, from multiple views, is unwise. There are reasons that Vegas happened, and they definitely have not washed away the stench of defeat on them. In fact, the smell got worse with UW fans' unfounded elitism coupled with a starting quarterback's injuries and goings-on.
While we do not expect love or even admiration from the UW fans or team or school, it is clear that scheduling BSU was not a move of respect. There are even those in both their fansbase AND STAFF that protested against the mere prospect of having to play BSU, despite previous commitments, citing (among other things) that they're "better" than BSU and that the fans are somehow on a lower tier socially. Their elitism will be their downfall.
And to the last possible reason, and the most unlikely, that UW expects to lose. While this is a very likely and appropriate outcome, it's unlikely that this would be volunteered to start their beloved facility's history. Husky Stadium will be marked and cursed FOREVER AND ALL TIME.
We, however, as Broncos, are used to being underestimated. We are used to coming into a place and tearing the roof off. They still don't know Bronco Nation, they don't know the team very well, and our school will be the victor in all of this. Let August 31st come. It's like what my client Bronco Fett has stated, "They shouldn't be too proud of this College-sports terror they've constructed. The power to raise a stadium is insignificant next to the power of The Broncos."
Our Good Coach Chris Petersen will get it done just like he always does. The whole package will come raining down upon Seattle. What happens in Vegas will happen in Seattle, and UW will have nothing to show for it.
Until next time, Bronco Nation: In Pete We Trust
