The Day After

The AFC Championship has come and gone, and unfortunately the Patriots will not be making the trip to Santa Clara. Its hard every year that we don’t win its just hard, its like being punched in the gut twice than kicked in the teeth.

Losing is one thing but losing to Denver is another, I can not stand Peyton Manning and the Broncos and losing to them just makes me feel sick. I feel bad for Stephen Gostkowski to hit 524 consecutive point after attempts is incredible it just stinks this is the one he had to miss. Gostkowski calls it a “nightmare scenario” and says he feels like he “lost the game” for the Patriots.

In reality Gostkowski did not lose them the game. It was a combination of the offensive line and lack of pass rush. I will admit that the pass rush stepped it up in the second half, but in the first half I didn’t even know Chandler Jones was playing. It was summed up well by Brady when he said “it was an uphill battle all day.”

Just to clarify I do stand by Belichick’s decision to go for it on fourth down with six minutes to go. At that point you don’t know how many more possessions you will get, so I can not bash Belichick for that, I would do the same thing but call a better play. Really, we call a screen pass on fourth and one, not the best play call there.

Repeating Championships is the hardest thing to do in all of sports, and it stinks we came up short. But the season is now over and we are onto the off season where we will start it all over again.
