The time has come, we all knew it was going to happen but we all just wanted it to be later in the month. That’s right the Red Sox have been eliminated by the Cleveland Indians and to make that sound even worse we got swept. This means it is officially the ending of an era as David Ortiz is now in retirement.
This whole series along with this season is just a bunch of coaching mistakes. It was simple we were out coached by our old coach Terry Francona. John Farrell made mistake after mistake and it cost us the season that is why I would not be surprised if Farrell did not have a job come tomorrow morning.
Today’s big mistake was he overlooked Coco Crisp. He was so focused on the runner on second that he overlooked Crisp and that resulted in a huge 2 run homer.
The Red Sox tried to comeback but it fell just short as in the bottom of the 9th with two outs with runners on first and second Shaw flied out to right.
It was a season of ups and downs for the Boston Red Sox but I do not call it a success. You can’t not win a game in your opening series and call a season a success when you big goal is to be World Series Champions. It was definitely a good season you won the AL East but at the end of the day you failed where you wanted to succeed the most.
I am really at a loss of word right now trying to think about a Red Sox team with no David Ortiz. It will definitely be different going forward; it is the ending of an era of the best DH ever to play the game. It’s been real David Ortiz thanks for all the memories.
