It is just about all negatives for the Red Sox lately but finally some life was shown yesterday afternoon. After losing 7 straight games the Red Sox rallied a win against the Braves at Fenway Park 9-4. In this win one man really stood out he goes by the name of Brock Star.
Holt is one of those players who should be in the starting line up every night but he usually isn’t, just recently we have seen a regular starting role for Holt. Yesterday he proved to Farrell that he should be an everyday starter, by completing one of the hardest accomplishments in all of baseball hitting the cycle.
It was a very impressive afternoon for Holt as he became the first Red Sox since John Valentin in 1996 to hit the cycle. Here is how it all went down at Brock’s first at bat of the day in the first inning he hit a fly ball to left field for a double. His next at bat would be in the third inning where he grounded out. Then the bottom of the 5th he hit a line drive to right for a single. So now he is up to a Double and a single with plenty of baseball left.
Now comes the hardest part of the cycle to hit the triple and the home run. In the 7th Holt took one deep and over the monster to cross of his home run. Holt now just one step away from hitting the cycle he stands up to bat in the 8th inning. He managed to hit a sharp fly ball to center filed over the head of Cameron Maybin. Holt hustled all the way to third where he was safe and had officially hit the cycle.
When asked about hitting the triple Holt said “As soon as barrel hit ball, I was like ‘Oh, my God, oh, my God, oh, my God,’ because once it gets in the [center-field] triangle, anything is possible,” Holt would become the first Red Sox to accomplish hitting the cycle since June 6th, 1996. The Sox are now on the road for 2 games to finish their home and home against the Braves.
