Anther wild free agency year once again lives up to the name, and New England capitalized on one of the fastest guys in all of football.
With defensive end Kony Ealy secured from Carolina, New England dives into this snowy Friday night with a blockbuster trade. New Orleans has agreed send third year wide receiver Brandin Cooks and a 2017 4th round pick (118th overall) to the New England Patriots for a 2017 1st round pick (32nd overall) and 3rd round pick (103rd overall). Now with two first rounders, New Orleans will look to draft possible replacements with the 1st round picks or address the wide receiver void later in the draft.
For New England, this is a huge upgrade. Cooks ended last year with eight touchdowns and almost 1,180 yards. In his two full seasons in the Big Easy, Cooks racked up almost 2,900 yards and 20 scores. The 5’10 blazer is considered one of the fastest players within the NFL, and now in a offense that loves speed, Cooks will thrive immediately.
