It seems the Celtics put together a dream team meeting of Boston Sports stars to attempt to get Kevin Durant to sign with the Celtics. We all knew it was an uphill battle and he was most likely he was going to sign with the Golden State Warriors or return to the Oklahoma City. But it seems the Celtics gave them a run for their money.
Durant in his first interview since signing with the Golden State Warriors admitted he was star-struck when Tom Brady joined the recruitment meeting in the Hamptons on 4th of July weekend.
“I was ready to just say, ‘All right, let’s go. I’m ready to go,’ seeing Tom Brady there,” Durant said. “Seeing someone so successful at his craft, and just a great ambassador for the game of football and the city of Boston, it was great to be in the presence of greatness.”
But even Tom Brady could not sell the Celtics to Durant.”I knew I couldn’t let that distract me,” said Durant. “[But] he was great. It was great to see him.”
But Durant would settle with the Golden State Warriors saying “I just made a decision based on where I wanted to go,” he said. “It was simple as that. We can think about all the reasoning and what factored in, but it’s just simple: This is where I wanted to play basketball.”
