The Cowboys put on a showing for the 2nd preseason game against the Miami Dolphins. Is it me or was everyone glued to the tv with anticipation over Dak Prescott? Prescott has delivered. If Prescott turns into a franchise QB for the Cowboys this could be Will McClay’s biggest draft day steal under his watch.
During the draft season, the Cowboys looked at a lot of players, but the player that was quietly on the Cowboys radar the whole time was Dak Prescott. We know the Cowboys visited with him at the Senior Bowl, NFL Combine, Pro Day, and workouts.
There were questions about the 2016 QB draft class and whether or not any were truly worth the top pick. The Cowboys waited until the 4 round and got their guy. With each game, the Cowboys selection of Prescott is looking better and better.
I love this tweet:
In a QB class that a lot of people think is weak, I’d take Dak Prescott and in 2-3 years he will be better than any of these guys, #leader

As for the Cowboys’ performance last night here are my Top 5 takes on the game:
- Dak Prescott has killed anymore talk of adding a veteran QB to backup Romo.
- Orlando Scandrick made his return to AT&T Stadium, his first since the Cowboys playoff game against the Lions
- Alfred Morris two-year deal looks like a homerun addition. Morris looks solid behind our offensive line.
- Tony Romo looked sharp in his return, no signs of rust, and hit favorite targets early on
- Shaniel Jenkins is going to make the Cowboys think very hard about keeping his around.
That is what I liked and what I thought were the major positives of the night.
A few other things that looked good were the starting defensive front, especially Cedric Thornton. Thornton is a much better upgrade over what the Cowboys have been using at DT next to Tyrone Crawford.
Brice Butler is a solid player and will contribute, we just have to hope he can stay healthy more than he was last season.
Morris Claiborne looked good. I know it’s the same story in training camp with Mo, but hopefully this is the year he finally plays well in the regular season as well. He’s been a camp warrior since he arrived in Dallas, but the switch turns off once the regular season starts.
Still looking for an defensive end pass rush. The defensive ends are not getting it done. The Cowboys worked out DaM0ntre Moore recently, and I expect more workouts to happen.
Will the Cowboys take the bubble wrap off Zeke next week? I was told he was a healthy scratch for last nights game, and the chances of him playing next week should be much better. We’ll see.
What did you like or dislike from the Cowboys 2nd preseason game?
