It has been a long week for Toronto Football Club as they have played two games with only two days in between. As on Wednesday night, they played the Montreal Impact in the Canadian Championship, that game ended in a draw 1-1. Tonight they would take on the New England Revolution and would win 2-0 to remain unbeaten at home (7-0-2).
Toronto would find the scoreboard early in this one and would never look back as they found the lead in the 11th minute thanks to Drew Moor. This was Moor’s first goal of the season and the 25 of his career.
We would not see another goal until Sebastian Giovinco beat Revolution keeper Cody Cropper in extra time in the 95th minute. That goal would secure the win for Tronto FC advancing their record to 10-2-5.
With this win, Tronto FC is now four points ahead of the Chicago Fire for first place in the Eastern Conference. The Revolution, on the other hand, will fall to a 5-7-5 record and are two points ahead of D.C. United for eighth in the conference.
The Revolution will now only have a couple of days off before hitting the field again to play D.C. United as they continue their quest for the U.S. Open Cup. The Revolution are currently 1-0 in the tournament after beating the Rochester Rhinos 1-0 on June 14th.
The Revolution will be hosting D.C. United but it will not be at Gillette Stadium it will instead be played at Harvard University at 7:30 PM on Wednesday, June, 28th. After that, the Revolution will continue their MLS schedule on Sunday, July 2nd at 5:00 PM as they will be in Philadelphia playing the Philadelphia Union at Talen Energy Stadium.
