Alvin Jones of Trinidad & Tobago scored one of the most amazing goals of the entire World Cup qualifying round, and it proved to be the dagger in US Men’s National Team’s hopes of heading to Russia in 2018.
USMNT were already trailing 1-0 at the time, after a bad mistake by Omar Gonzalez led to an own goal.
But Jones made sure T&T scored a legitimate goal of its own.
Jones unleashed a rocket from roughly 30 yards out in the first half that completely caught Tim Howard off guard, and it found the back of the net to give his team a 2-0 lead. They would go on to win — eliminating USMNT in the process — by a 2-1 margin.

To add insult to injury for USMNT fans, it was Jones’ first-ever goal for T&T.
