It seemed like a great idea to have a bald eagle fly around AT&T Stadium before the College Football Playoff semifinal game between Clemson and Notre Dame kicked off — on paper, at least.
The problem is that bald eagles can’t really be contained, and tend to play by their own rules.
That was on display when a bald eagle flew around AT&T Stadium during the national anthem. Everything seemed to be going as planned, until the bird of prey began landing on random fans.
This is horrifying. The eagle let loose during the National Anthem is lost and terrified, flying and landing on random spectators in the crowd.

Clark, the bald eagle, circled AT&T Stadium during the national anthem. Instead of going to its handlers, it landed on two fans. I'm so thankful this isn't an open-air press box! pic.twitter.com/GUH0LI7OdO

Eventually, though, after a few tense moments, it landed on one particular fan, and a man that was presumed to be one of its handlers appeared. The man was eventually able to get the bald eagle to leave on his shoulder, as you can see in the video clip below.
The eagle they had flying around during the national anthem appears to have gotten very confused and landed on a random spectator? pic.twitter.com/x10f3FtMvk

That situation could’ve turned ugly in a matter of seconds, so we’re glad that both the eagle and the fans turned out OK.
