Chargers receiver Travis Benjamin laid it all on the line on what was the biggest play of the game up to that point late in Thursday’s game against the Chiefs, and he came up huge, but he paid for it.

Benjamin ran a great route on 4th-and-8, with his team trailing 28-21, and quarterback Philip Rivers hit him in stride with a dime throw.

But he was working the middle of the field, so it was inevitable that he was going to get hit. Sure enough, he got drilled — so hard that his tooth popped out. He held onto the ball, though — moving the chains and setting up the Chargers’ go-ahead touchdown with four seconds remaining.

Ouch. Maybe the Chargers can cover his dental bills, given how big of a win it was.
