Can we talk about Saturday night’s game?
I feel like it was the perfect 60 minute summary of the Sharks season. Start well, keep looking really promising for 20 minutes, look a tired in the second and shit the bed by the end of the third.
YOU HAD A 2-0 LEAD SHARKS. YOU HAD ONE JOB!
That job, in case you’re wondering, was to KEEP THE LEAD.
Ok, look, I get it. You tried. There was a disallowed goal that went of the post (but I’m pretty sure it bounced back in before the whistle), a REALLY QUICK whistle, more icing than a wedding cake, and oh yeah. This:
[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i6DDXRja18U]That really didn’t help.
Mina said it best when she said that the only fans who really know what it’s like to be a Sharks fan are Leafs fans, and they have it worse.
This team plays so well when it’s hot, but it falls apart for seemingly unknown reasons at the drop of a hat, and then can’t get it back together. Why is that? I don’t know. If I did, I’d tell someone and the Sharks would have 50 Cups by now. But they don’t. They are fighting for a playoff spot, and I gotta say, it’s not looking good. They keep losing games they should win and the season is getting shorter by the day.
I don’t know at what point the Sharks become mathematically eliminated from the race, but it’s not looking good.
On the “entertainment” side, there were some scraps, including a near line brawl in the first over…I’m not sure what. Someone’s mother, probably. Dorsett was involved, so maybe he used an AOE that contained major asshole buffs, and everyone went nuts from that. (This is highly likely. Such buffs give John Scott a plus 3 in suspension probability)
The Sharks managed to get a too many men call in the third while Nemo was out of the net. I about died of laughter. That was a nice break from trying not to go all Scanners on Mina after the refs started playing with their whistles.
Serious Refs, what is it about the Sharks that you hate so much? Is it the teal? It’s the teal isn’t it. Look, everyone looks good in teal. You can wear it, it’s ok. You don’t need to hate it anymore. Embrace it.
Speaking of embracing things, you might wish to prepare to embrace hockey oblivion. The Sharks face the Pens tonight at 7. Of course the Pens have some terrible record against the Sharks at home, which means they will win tonight 2-1.
Because of course they will.
