With Ware Out 3-4 Weeks, Time for Jerry to Deal

Well, we knew DeMarco Murray would have his yearly injury, and like clockwork it happened last night. He’ll miss the Eagles game, and who knows for sure after that. What we do know is that DeMarcus Ware is expected to miss 3-4 weeks with a quad strain. This leaves the Cowboys with a dangerously depleted unit on the defensive line; moreover, a weakened pass rush.

At 31, Ware still has a few years in him, but he’s clearly showing signs of wear and tear, and this latest injury further highlights that downward trend unfortunately.

What do the Cowboys do for this stretch without Ware or for the rest of the season?

Its time for Jerry Jones to be working the phones with a deal for a DE, and it could involve shipping out Miles Austin. Austin is the best candidate for a player trade, he is now fully expendable with the emergence of Terrance Williams and Cole Beasley. If we can’t move Austin for a player, throw in a draft pick, but something significant should be coming down the pipe.

I just don’t see our luck lasting much longer. We managed a good showing last night, but the next few weeks offer us a more challenging path.

7. Oct. 20 @ Philadelphia Eagles, 12:00 p.m.

8. Oct. 27 @ Detroit Lions, 12:00 p.m.

9. Nov. 3 vs. Minnesota Vikings, 12:00 p.m.

10. Nov. 10 @ New Orleans Saints, 7:30 p.m. (SNF)

11. Bye Week

My guess is that Ware will be held out till the bye week, letting him heal, and letting him be ready for our final push, but if we lose these next games, it’ll be for nothing, so Jerry better be making a deal for someone.
