San Francisco 49ers Futures Odds

After making an appearance in the 2021 NFC Championship Game, the San Francisco 49ers find themselves as one of the favorites to win the division once again this year.

The top online sportsbooks have projected the 49ers for 9.5 wins, which is on par with the 10-7 record they posted a season ago. However, San Francisco finished second in the division standings last year, one spot behind the Super Bowl champion Los Angeles Rams.

According to the best NFL betting sites, the 49ers have the second-best odds to win the NFC West at +200. Despite replacing veteran quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo for first-year starter Trey Lance, the 49ers are among the NFL teams with the best Super Bowl 2023 odds. San Francisco will enter the season with +1800 odds to win Super Bowl LVII.

That gives the 49ers the seventh-best chance to hoist the Lombardi Trophy in 2023.

The Rams are once again favored to win the NFC West at +130 odds but the 49ers (+200) and Cardinals (+285) aren’t far behind.

San Francisco 49ers Team Wins

In 2021, San Francisco finished with a 10-7 overall record, good for second place in the NFC West.

Heading into the 2022 NFL season, the 49ers are projected to win 9.5 games in Trey Lance’s first year as a starter.

Will Lance prove to be an upgrade over Garoppolo in one of the NFL’s toughest divisions?

San Francisco 49ers Prediction

This will be Trey Lance’s first year as an NFL starter.

While the former No. 3 overall pick is supremely talented, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the 23-year-old go through some growing pains in his first real taste of the league as an NFL starting quarterback.

With that being said, a closer look at the 49ers schedule reveals some very winnable games.

The 49ers will have the benefit of playing some of the league’s worst teams early on in the season, which should help take some of the pressure off of Lance.

San Francisco will open the season with games against the Chicago Bears, Seattle Seahawks, Carolina Panthers, and Atlanta Falcons in four of the first six weeks. The 49ers will also wind down the year by playing three of their final four games against the Seahawks, Washington Commanders, and the Arizona Cardinals (at home).

It’s not unreasonable to think that San Francisco could go 6-1 in those games. To reach over 9.5 wins then, the 49ers would have to go 4-6 over the remainder of their schedule, which certainly seems plausible, especially with games against New Orleans and Miami still on the schedule.

Take San Francisco to notch over 9.5 wins in 2022.

2022 49ers Preseason Schedule

Football is finally back for the 2022 NFL season.

With the NFL preseason shortened to three games, some teams are electing to give their starters more reps in Week 1.

Such is the case in San Francisco, where 49ers’ head coach Kyle Shanahan has decided to take an unorthodox approach by playing his starters in Weeks 1 and 3.

Shanahan reportedly made the decision in order to help offset San Francisco’s compressed preseason schedule, which will see the team play three games in a span of just 13 days.

San Francisco will open the season on the road in Chicago against the Bears on Sunday, September 11, 2022.

Check out some of the key games on the 49ers schedule below.

San Francisco will play seven of its final nine regular season games at home in Levi’s Stadium, including a must-watch season finale against the division-rival Cardinals that could have major playoff implications in Week 18.
