Your Afternoon Dump… Union and owners to meet

Yippee_big

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there's nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump.

The league and the players’ association reportedly have agreed to meet this week in their first organized negotiating session in nearly a month. Training camps are scheduled to kick off in early October and the belief is that an agreement must be reached by the middle of September to secure a full training camp. That seems hardly possible, given that the league filed two lawsuits against the union following the last negotiating session. And an increasing number of players are pessimistic about starting the season on time, including 76ers forward Elton Brand, who organized a team workout at UCLA this weekend.

Well la-dee-freakin-da. The owners and players union are going to meet. I feel like fans are caught in the middle of a silly break-up where each side is too stubborn to call the other.

Now excuse me while I take my kids outside to play in this hurricane tropical storm rain.
