How To Prepare For Your Trip To Start The New NBA Season

Millions of NBA fans are waiting in anticipation for the new season to start, although San Antonio Spurs don’t play their first official game until October 25th, it is never too early to start making travel plans if you’re planning on visiting the USA to see the Spurs in action.

Tickets & Travel

When it comes to airlines, you tend to get the best deals the earlier you book your tickets. On average it is best to book your tickets 54 before days before you want to fly, 112-21 days before is the prime booking window. Remember you will also have to fill out an ESTA form in order to gain entry to the US, once approved you’ll be allowed to stay for up to 90 days.

Accommodation

When staying in San Antonio to watch the Spurs play, you will probably want to stay as close as possible to the action. There are a number of hotels located conveniently near the AT&T Center, the home of the Spurs, including the Knights Inn, the Howard Johnson Inn and Travelodge. For the best availability you will want to book as early as possible due to high demand.
Rooms at the Knights Inn start around £29 while the Howard Johnson Inn is the most expensive of the three with rooms starting at £47. Where you end up staying may well be determined by your budget but what is useful is that all three hotels include free Wi-Fi and breakfast as part of their room rates.

Merchandise

You’ll probably want to look the part if you’re sitting courtside at a Spurs game and you can get all the merchandise you want from the online store ahead of time. Whether you’re looking for a genuine replica jersey with your favourite player’s name and number, or even a souvenir t-shirt to commemorate your experience. The club shop currently offer a range of Tim Duncan goodies in celebration of the 19 year career of the now retired Spurs power forward.

Spending Your Time In San Antonio

A standard basketball game can last for just over two hours, but if you’re spending a few days in San Antonio you should make the most of your time in the city. There is a wealth of culture in San Antonio to be found in a number of popular museums that include the Witte and the McNay Art Museum. You can also spend some golden time with nature in the Botanical Garden, the River Walk and even learn more about history at the Alamo Mission.

Then in the evenings you can relax at some of the best restaurants in the city and sample some of the best cuisine San Antonio has to offer. Honestly, you shouldn’t fly home without trying puffy taco’s or Texas quail, then for dessert there’s Nutella done three ways (mousse, cake and fudge sauce), sticky toffee pudding and a vanilla flan. You might come a few pounds heavier but it will be worth it.
