Monday Ramblin’s…

This Friday is Christmas. Yeah, this Friday. 20 years ago a young me would have pretty much hyperventilating every single night waiting for Friday morning. But now I’m an old fuck and will be wondering around a cubicle farm today saying things like “I need some more time” or “where the heck did 2009 go”? The moral of the story? Sometimes getting old is cool. Sometimes getting old sucks. X-mas falls in the latter camp…

Less than a month ago I would have bet anything Matt Holliday wasn’t coming back to the Cardinals. But the market for the guy just doesn’t seem to be shaping up like we thought. To be honest, I’m a little surprised. Maybe some of these NL GM’s weren’t big Cardinal fans- but the cat absolutely raped Senior Circuit pitching the last 3 months of the ’09 season. That has to count for something, no? But lets go ahead and get this sucker knocked out, big guy. Cardinals- offer a little more. Boras- take a little less. Spit on hands and shake…

If you work at a marketing firm that makes any of the jewelry ads I’ve seen this holiday season- go die. Tie those forver pendnats in a noose and leave us men the fuck alone. Blind women, huge storms, infant babies… just how do you sleep at night? You’re dirty tricks are deplorable…

The Rams are bad. We know this. But after 14 games and 13 losses to teams that aren’t the Detroit Lions, I think it’s fair to start looking at Head Coach Steve Spagnuolo and examining his year 1 performance. Yesterday his time out to call a punt on fourth down seemed out of place at the time. And sure enough, it ended up costing the Rams a chance to get the ball back at the end of the game. We’ve seen many rookie mistakes on his part, but we’ve yet to really see a glimpse of brilliance. Every coach has those few moments in a season that makes you, the fan, say damn- good call. You got me there. I wouldn’t have done that, but you did. And it worked. I can’t recall a ‘wow’ moment from Coach Spags in 2009 that’s made me really think “OK, this guys a little green now, but he’s got something about him we can build on.” When are those moments coming? Will they ever come? What are our measuring sticks? It’s a mess with the Rams. Who can we trust when they all tell us things are getting better when they obviously aren’t?…

The Cardinals aren’t shy about selling tickets this Christmas season, eh? About 25 e-mails in the past 2 weeks have offered everything but a BJ from Billy DeWitt to buy a premium ticket for the Cards in 2010. We get it guys, get that revenue on the books this year and let it mature. We will buy tickets, I swear. But do we have to do it RIGHT NOW…

In case you’re looking for it- the CD archives are up and active. You can search content back from 2005 to the present. I have no idea why you’d want to do that- but you can now…

In all seriousness, I hope the Blues turn this season around. Hockey games are fun. 19,150 people getting weird with each other. Grown goons whacking the shit out of dental work. Pucks. It’s all good. But when the team sucks, like it did Friday night, it just sends the casual fan like myself right back into something else that isn’t hockey…

Are you expecting packages this week? Expect delays on packages emanating from anywhere on the east coast. Don’t think that 22 inches effected your holiday? Try telling little Suzy her Zhu-Zhu is coming sometime next week and see what happens. On a related note, wouldn’t it be cool if Boston just kind of melted with the snow and just drained into the ocean and we started over up there?…
