An implosion even #18 couldn’t prevent

This story is very big news in my culture.  Remember actual MVP voter Bob Glauber of Newsday?  Less than 2 weeks ago he didn’t have Peyton Manning in his top ten.  It’s a totally different story today.  Weston Wamp of LegitSports says its the intangibles that make Peyton the MVP.  Ryan Sonner says the third MVP would put the quarterback in impressive company.  Paul Needell says the voters need to understand the difference between the MVP and the OPOY and DPOY.  The Post-Gazette is out to lunch.

Thanks to Mike Sando for the link from his ESPN Blog.  May I respond briefly to his comments.  Manning’s rating is lower than any year since 2002, but only very slightly.  I would also note that his objection to the stats including his rookie year was answered by the set of stats that elimiate 1998 and 2004.  This season is vintage Manning.
