Major Announcement: Blue Blood to be Released Next Week

I want to thank you all for you patience with me this off-season.  As you know, I’ve been working on a pair of books.  I’m grateful to Jesse and now Tim for helping out with some of the writing duties.

For you fans of 18to88 that are strictly Colts fans, I’m pleased to announce that you are about to get your fix.

If you don’t care about soccer, the Reds, or any of the other things I sometimes write about, never fear.  I’ve actually done more writing about the Colts than I have in my life this off-season.

Very soon, you’ll get the opportunity to dig in.

My book Blue Blood is coming out next week.

Blue Blood is the history of the Indianapolis Colts.  It traces the evolution of the team from the Midnight Move to the championship success of recent seasons.  Blue Blood is 18to88.com in book form.

Here’s what you can expect:  95% new material.  While you’ll find things like “Classic Colts” and “Games We’ll Never Forget”, even our oldest readers will be pleased to see the overhaul those features have received.  This not just 18to88 repackaged.  The book is almost completely fresh work.

The book is designed to be an ’emotional’ history of the team.  While each era of Colts history is summarized, the chapters largely consist of essays on some of the important people and events of the past 26 years of Colts’ history.  If you are a long time Colts fan, you’ll love this book as it chronicles the big plays and greatest personalities of the era.  It emphasizes players and moments that you remember, but that most people have forgotten.

If you are a newer fan (or know a new fan), or are younger than 25 years old, then this book is perfect for you.  If you want to learn and understand not only what happened, but how the past continues to ripple forward and affect the present and future, then this book is for you. Peyton Manning has brought a lot of new fans into the family of Colts’ fans.  We are thrilled to have you.  Here’s what you missed…

If you are a first generation Colts fan who wants his or her kids to understand the past of the team so they can grow up bleeding blue, then this is the perfect way to introduce them the Colts.  In some ways, I wrote the book for my own children so that in a few years they’ll be able to understand the team they have no choice but to root for.

As soon as the book is available for purchase, I’ll have links and information up.  There’s obviously a few things you can do to help me out:

1.  BUY THE BOOK!  (please.)

2.  Talk about the book to your friends and family who are Colts fans that don’t read 18to88. Buy them extra copies as gifts!  You don’t have to read the book.  Just buy it.

3.  I need lots of help from you all on this next one: If you live in a Colts market that is NOT Indianapolis, I want to hear from you.  I’m looking to do radio and print promotion outside of the Indy area (I have Indy covered).  If you live in Kentucky, Tennessee, New Orleans, or ESPECIALLY Iowa and you have a good local sports talk program, please let me know.  I need station names, host names, phone numbers, whatever you can get me.  I would love to do a radio spot in your town, but you can tell me better than anyone who I should be trying to get on the air with.

4.  I’ll be back in the States in the month of July.  We’ll be throwing a big book signing party/event.  Details are still coming together, but I would love to see as many of you there as can make it.

Starting next week, I’ll release short excerpts from the book as well pictures of the cover.  Stay tuned to this channel for more updates!

I want to thank you all for making this book a reality.  I still need your help to make it a success.
