Game Day Preview: Original Six CCCombo!
Second original six match up in a row tonight against the Red Wings, the only professional sports team in Detroit that doesn’t suck.  Here’s a fun fact, with a win tonight and a Tampa Bay loss tomorrow, the Bruins jump to 2nd place in the Eastern Conference!

Typically the Bruins only play the Wings once a year, but this actually marks the start of a home and home series between the two. Seem odd? Well not much else in the NHL seems to make sense, so why should the scheduling?

Truth be told, most fans will probably be let down by this game after that sex-in-hockey-form game that was on Wednesday night.  We know that we’re still riding high on the adreneline (thank you Bruins in 2), but keep in mind that the Red Wings aren’t especially gritty this year and have the fewest fighting majors in the NHL.

They should take some lessons in angry from their coach Babcock…seriously, why is he always look so mad??

Since the lockout, the Bruins have gone 2-2 against the Wings.  Tonight’s contest looks to be evenly matched, both teams are at the top of their division and have almost the same amount of points (Wings have 70 to the Bruins’ 69).  Red Wings are definitely the more talented offensive team, but Bruins got them beat in defense, goaltending, and physicality.

Pretty good chance that the Bruins will be facing Jimmy Howard in new tonight.  Last year, Howard was basically the Tuukka Rask of the West, a rookie butterfly goalie who was forced to step up and played fantastically; only to be forced out of the playoffs too early.  This year however, while not doing awful, he has failed to live up to expectations.

Rask on the other hand hasn’t played enough for us to gauge one way or another, but we still think he’s awesome!

Your time will come buddy!

Projected Roster:

Milan Lucic-David Krejci-Nathan Horton
Brad Marchand-Patrice Bergeron-Mark Recchi
Blake Wheeler-Zach Hamill-Michael Ryder
Jordan Caron-Gregory Campbell-Shawn Thornton

Zdeno Chara-Steven Kampfer
Dennis Seidenberg-Johnny Boychuk
Andrew Ference-Adam McQuaid

Tuukka Rask
Tim Thomas
Speak of the Devil! Looks like Tuukka is getting the nod tonight.  The Bruins have said that they want to use him more to get Thomas more rest, so expect to see him in net a little more.  Seguin and Stuart are still scratched unfortunately.
