Sox Lose Again to Bring Skid to Three

The Red Sox had lost the last two games and they needed Eduardo Rodriguez to have a decent outing to right the ship and get the team a win.   ERod had a bad inning, but that one inning would leave the O’s with a 5-0 lead.  The Sox not only couldn’t get themselves out of the early hole, they weren’t able to score a single run.   This is the 10th time this season the Sox have been shut out and it would mean a third loss in a row.

The game honestly seemed over by the end of the 2nd inning.  ERod pitched a scoreless 1st, but then in the 2nd everything fell apart.  Rodriguez gave up RBI singles to Trumbo and Gentry and then a 3 run homer to Beckham to put the Orioles up 5-0.  ERod settled down after that and pitched into the 7th inning without giving up another run, but the damage had already been done.

It didn’t help that the Sox offense couldn’t get anything going against O’s starter Kevin Gausman.  The Sox only got 4 hits in the game and none of them would make it home to score.   After Rodriguez was pulled in the 7th and replaced with Brandon Workman.   Workman would get the final out to end the inning.   Workman wouldn’t be as lucky in the 8th when he gave up a solo home run to Schoop.   Sox 0-6.   Fernando Abad came out for the 9th and he’d end up giving up the 7th and final run to the O’s.   Abad gave up an RBI double to Gentry.  Sox 0-7.  The Sox bats went silent in the bottom of the 9th, just as they had in the previous 8 innings.

Red Sox 0  Orioles 7  BOXSCORE
