Who Wants to be a Racing President?

Afraid you’re not going to live up to your parents’ lofty expectations of growing up to be President of the United States? Don’t fear.

Loophole!

The Washington Nationals are looking for qualified candidates to fill the comically oversized heads shoes of their award-winning Racing Presidents. Now I know what you’re thinking…what if you don’t have any mascot experience, can you still dress up and run around Nationals Park dressed up as William Howard Taft or Thomas Jefferson?

Not necessary.

However, there are some skills you must have. But it’s a lot tougher than you might think.

“Probably the most valuable piece of information to know is that it’s not easy, and the heads are not exactly light,” said Benjamin Christensen, who spends his baseball season running around O.co Coliseum as Dennis Eckersley’s mascot doppelganger. “If you’re going to apply, be sure to put in some work before getting an audition. Go running! Get your ass in some kind of shape before you make yourself look like an idiot in front of over 20,000 people.”

Anything else?

“Winning the race is not the most important thing to take away from each day, it’s whether the fans are entertained,” Christensen continued. “The more fun you have out there, the more fun they’ll have.”
