Penguins vs. Avalanche
PPG Paints Arena – Pittsburgh, PA
7:00PM Eastern – AT&TSN | ALT
The Penguins look to get back in the win column as they welcome the Colorado Avalanche for their second game in 6 days. The Penguins dropped a 6-3 decision which was much closer than the score indicates last Wednesday. In that tilt, Sidney Crosby went into God Mode and had a natural hat trick to tie the game. Unfortunately, the Penguins gave up the go-ahead goal and a pair of empty netters leading to the final score.
The Penguins also lost on Saturday evening to the Flyers, dropping a 4-2 contest.
The roster changes have begun, with Daniel Sprong being shipped to Anaheim in exchange for Marcus Pettersson.
Sprong on being in SoCal after trade from Pitt: “I saw the sun for the first time in a month so that’s a good sign.”

Apparently Daniel Sprong can keep his head up when he’s not on the ice.
Casey “The Smith” DeSmith will tend the twine for the Penguins tonight, although there’s been some developments on the goaltender front in the past few days. Our very own G-off did the thing with the numbers and stuff to make words about goaltender things.
With Spraniel Dong a long-forgotten memory, it seems that Pettersson (whose nickname is “The Dragon“) is not only available tonight. He’s very available.
Marcus Pettersson is "very much available for the game tonight." … Will be interesting to see who comes out if he plays. Ruhwedel was the only defensemen on long.

Pearson – Malkin – Hornqvist
Aston-Reese – Brassard – Kessel
Sheahan – Grant – Rust
Dumoulin – Letang
Maatta – Riikola
Johnson – Oleksiak
The Smith
Look – we all know Jack Johnson should sit, but we also all know he won’t. If Pettersson draws in it’ll likely be at the expense of Oleksiak or Riikola.
The Avs are good. We literally just did this preview last week so not much has changed.
Ian Cole is salty af.
Asked Ian Cole what he'd be thinking at the first TV timeout: "I might have to take a bathroom break. … No, it’ll be cool. We’ll see if I get one. I don’t know if I made the cut or not."
