Xavier Rhodes certainly won’t bet against Adrian Peterson returning before the end of the regular season.
The Vikings cornerback watched his teammate’s rehab Tuesday and couldn’t believe what he was seeing.
“Seeing him today was like, ‘I don’t think you’re supposed to be doing all this right now.’,” Rhodes told Alex Marvez and Bill Polian on SiriusXM NFL Radio via The Sporting News. “But it’s Adrian Peterson. He’s obviously not human.”
After leading the NFL with 1,485 rushing yards last year, Peterson tore his meniscus in Week 2 against the Packers.
ESPN.com reported that Peterson could return as early as the Vikings’ Week 15 home game against the Colts. The Vikings’ backfield could use the help. Minnesota is last in the league in rushing yards per game (70) and rushing yards per attempt (2.7) and it has started to catch up with them. They snapped a four-game losing streak by beating the Cardinals Sunday.
The Vikings (6-4) go to Detroit on Thanksgiving and host the Cowboys a week from Thanksgiving. They face no teams with winning records after that. If their playoff hopes are still alive after playing the Lions and Cowboys, they could be in good shape getting Peterson back during a soft part of their schedule.
