Wolves Updates 6/4

From Don Seeholzer/Pioneer Press:

The highlight of Wednesday morning’s pre-draft workouts at Target Center was supposed to be the point-guard competition between Wake Forest’s Jeff Teague and Virginia Commonwealth’s Eric Maynor.

That all ended, however, when Teague suffered an early injury, leaving Maynor to work out with a group of four forwards.

Citing privacy rules, the Timberwolves had no comment on the nature or severity of Teague’s injury, but Foxsports.com reported it was a sprained knee ligament.

Wolves president of basketball operations David Kahn did say he liked what he saw of Maynor, who thinks he could do for some team what rookie point guard Derrick Rose did for the Chicago Bulls this season.
The Timberwolves will wrap up four days of pre-draft workouts Thursday with one morning session.

Forwards Chase Budinger of Arizona and Sam Young of Pittsburgh are projected as late first-round picks and possibilities to go to the Wolves with the 28th selection.
Here are the players scheduled for tomorrow’s morning session that wraps up these four days of pre-draft workouts:

North Carolina guard Wayne Ellington, Arizona forward Chase Budinger, Pittsburgh forward Sam Young, Tennessee guard Tyler Smith, Xavier forward Derrick Brown and Arizona State forward Jeff Pendergraph
T-wolves big man Kevin Love, who dabbled with a communication major at UCLA, is moonlighting as a reporter for NBA.com, offering reports from the playoffs. What has he learned so far? “You need to be engaging and smile,” he tells Blitz before backtracking — and flashing his new corrective dental bling. “I’m trying not to smile, though, because of these braces. They’re not really camera friendly, but they will be in a few years.”
