Red Rocket!

Guess who’s going to sport the the maple leaf next summer?  The New Hampshire native himself, the “Red Rocket,” Matt Bonner.  Team Canada head coach, Leo Rautins has pretty much assured that Bonner will have the paperwork completed for next year’s world championships in Turkey.

He’s completely pumped and waiting to play,” Rautins said. “It’s going to happen, and we’re anxious to have Matt. He’s a high-character guy, who’s committed to the game. And for the international game, he is multi-faceted. He can play at the three, four and five spots.”

The FIBA rules allows the teams to have one naturalized player, and Matt Bonner who is American but married to a Canadian, recently obtained his Canadian citizenship.  He was a huge fan fave in Toronto, so why not join Team Canada?
