The Stadium Guy visits Fort Wayne

My friend Jon Bennett just visited Indiana, and will be reviewing some of the fine stadiums we have.  First, Fort Wayne.

The stadium is a VERY nice ballpark.  It is much better than any other Class A ballpark I have seen, and nicer than several Class AA ballparks.  The three defining features of the ballpark, in my view are the concourse, the concessions and the views of downtown Fort Wayne.  Let’s get that last one out of the way first.  Fort Wayne is actually bigger than you might imagine.  There are several high rise buildings, plus a couple of government buildings which you can see plainly from the seating bowl.  There is a Courtyard by Marriott being built behind the right center field fence, and there is the Hilton I stayed at – both in easy walking distance.  For the resident of suburban Fort Wayne or a visitor staying in one of the beaucoup chain hotels along I-69 in the suburbs, there is a huge parking garage behind the right field fence.  And no, that is not how PARKview Field got its name.
