Looking Ahead

The Red Sox should be able to gain some ground in the division with a relatively easy schedule over the next week and a half.  The Sox start with a series against the A’s who are currently in first in the West but that is not saying much as the Sox have a better record than every team in that division.

The A’s should give the Red Sox their biggest challenge with quality starting pitching including the recent resurgence of Ben Sheets.  The Sox will send Lackey, Dice-K, and Wake to the mound in the series at Fenway.

The team will then hit the road for a three game series against the O’s and a four game series against the tribe.  The two teams have a combined record of 33-67.  If the Red Sox can capitalize on their opponent’s weaknesses they could find themselves in the wild card lead with the division in reach.
