Monday Links – Celtics Take Game 5, Nebraska Officially Joins the Big Ten, Vince Young Suspected of Assault, & Vuvuzelas May Be Banned from World Cup

Mondays suck. Make today better with some links.

  • Kobe Bryant broke out for 38 points, but the Celtics beat the Lakers 92-86 in Game 5 of the NBA Finals last night. Maybe it’s just me, but this series has really lost its appeal over the past several days. I’m not calling conspiracy, but I’ll be 1,000% shocked if the Lakers lose Game 6.
  • It was only speculation last week, but the Big Ten made it official on Friday: Nebraska will join the conference in 2011. Personally, I’m excited about the inevitable Michigan-Nebraska football matchups. A Big Ten Championship game? Not so much.
  • Tennessee Titans DB Pacman Jones (sorry, reflex) QB Vince Young is the prime suspect in a fight that occurred at a Dallas strip club this weekend. Titans coach Jeff Fisher isn’t concerned about Vince hurting his right arm; it’s not like he uses it anyway. [via Deadspin]
  • Not everyone is going to share in my excitement for the World Cup, but few have the same sense of humor about it that Kevin Sawyer of Detroit Bad Boys does. Check out his running diary of this weekend’s action whether you’re watching the games or not. [screencap from the DBB comments]

  • If you have been watching the World Cup, there’s still hope that the vuvuzelas (really annoying buzzing trumpets people play the entire fucking game) may be banned from future matches.
  • Guyism has a list of the 10 hottest MILFs in sitcom history. I’m not big on cartoon characters in the list and I think that Nancy Botwin should be a bit higher (pun definitelyintended). Otherwise, it’s a great list that blends both past and present.

RANDOM AWESOME VIDEO OF THE DAY

A Blackhawks fan pays the price for climbing up a pole — not the first time one of their fans has interacted with poles, is it? — to retrieve a Stanley Cup Finals banner. Of course, that banner should come in handy; it will be a long time until their team sniffs the finals again.

Walk-off home runs are one of the most exciting plays in sports. This announcer needs to show a little more emotion in such an exciting moment. [via Hot Clicks]
