The Sacramento Kings’ performance on a nightly basis can be night and day depending on the outcome.
Take their last two games for example. The Kings dominated the Pelicans in practically every statistical category and bested New Orleans in nearly each quarter of a 114-97 rout. Rewind to Sunday and the Kings took a pummeling in the form of a 108-93 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Their Jekyll-and-Hyde performance in wins and losses this season is not an aberration; it’s actually been a trend. When the Kings win, they win big, and when the Kings lose, they lose big. Despite the Kings’ performance disparity in wins and losses, it is worth nothing that Sacramento has played pretty well in tightly-contested games. Since acquiring Gay, the Kings have played in six games decided by five points or less and have posted a 5-1 record. Their wins came against Orlando (105-100), Miami (108-103 in overtime), Houston (110-106), Portland (123-119) and Minnesota (111-108). Their lone defeat, a 91-90 loss, came at the hands of the Memphis Grizzlies last Friday.
