The Kings’ injury report for today’s matchup against the San Antonio Spurs welcomes a new name.

  • DeMarcus Cousins has contracted a virus and is out for tonight’s contest. The center has started every game this season averaging 23.5 points, 12.6 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.5 blocks per match. In Cousins’ absence, the Kings will start Ryan Hollins.
  • Rudy Gay is listed as probable after missing Sacramento’s last two games. Right Achilles tendinitis has plagued the forward all season, but he still started the Kings’ first 13 contests and managed to produce 21.1 points, 6.5 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game. Omri Casspi replaced Gay in the starting lineup Tuesday and Wednesday and averaged 18 points on 60.8 percent shooting and 5.5 rebounds in the two starts.
  • Darren Collison has also sat the Kings’ last two games and is listed as probable with a left quadriceps contusion/strain. Sacramento’s starting point guard has appeared in 12 contests this season averaging 15.9 points, seven assists and 1.6 steals per match. If Collison is unavailable, Ramon Sessions will likely start his third game in a row. However Sessions has been struggling mightily this year, so Ray McCallum may earn the start as well.

According to the Kings’ “Participation Status Key,” Gay and Collison’s probable status makes them a 75 percent chance to go.  We will keep you updated on the status of each player as we find out more.

In roster-related news, the Kings optioned Eric Moreland to the Reno Bighorns today. This is the undrafted rookie’s third reassignment to the NBA D-League this season, where he’s averaged 13.3 points and 10.7 rebounds in three starts. Moreland made his NBA debut on Wednesday versus the Houston Rockets playing 33 seconds.
