Justin Verlander flirts with no hitter, tears in post-game interview

Justin Verlander threw another absolute gem on Wednesday night against the Los Angeles Angels, one-hitting the Angels in a 5-0 win. Verlander lost his no-hitter in the 9th inning when Chris Ianetta put a 97-mph fastball on the chalk down the left-field line. Verlander would get the next two outs to complete the complete game shutout.

Immediately after the game, Verlander started his post-game interview with Fox Sports Detroit by thanking the fans for getting on their feet and supporting him. He came back to thanking the fans later in the interview, expressing appreciation for us always having his back. It looked a lot like JV was getting a little emotional about it, too, nearly coming to tears. Amazing raw emotion.

Uh, but does he remember fans booing July 19? Well, maybe he considered that helpful criticism. Remember, he said he would boo himself then, too, and look at his freakin’ numbers ever since:

And look at these numbers:

And these:

And these:

No and these.

The Tigers are 5 GB of the one-game playoff.

GO TIGERS.
