On April 11th, this happened:

On May 30th, this happened:

And now on June 16th, I’m unveiling the new Howlin’ T-Wolf logo.

THIS is finally happening!

I know for the Minnesota Timberwolves, there’s a chronology that culminated in their design:

Same for the Iowa Wolves:

What about the Howlin’ T-Wolf?

Mmm…it’s not sophisticated, but it was a thoughtful exercise.

I want the new logo to resemble two things, and two things only: who we cover and what we stand for.

Who do we cover? Well, that’s obvious right.

What do we stand for? Well, that’s not so obvious.

Here’s why: I’ve embedded the message into the design.

The moon shrouded in the lake blue sky, the nose with the aurora green basketball stripes—these elements represent the team that we cover: the Minnesota Timberwolves.

So if we’re going to cover the Timberwolves, what else do we need? The trees, so let’s bring back the green trees from the past.

Let’s find a place to put them. I know, how about the ears?

Okay, so we have the moon and the blue sky in the background, the basketball-themed nose, and the green trees resembling the ears.

Now for the integral part of the design: the wolf.

I’ve seen plenty of wolf logos hinting at the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Here’s a couple of them.

When I look at them, I don’t want another version of their logo.

I want my logo to represent today’s Timberwolves, and our name.

And so … *drum roll please* here it is:

The Howlin’ T-Wolf logo represents the #NewEraNewLook, yes, but it also reflects our mission statement.

We’re not just covering the Timberwolves. We’re howlin’ at them, echoing our populist points of views.

So there you have it, Timberwolves fans.
