One of the brightest spots of the Philadelphia Eagles over the past few seasons has been the play of their special teams. The team made sure to keep some of their most promising special teams talent on board with three contract extensions.
On Thursday, the Eagles signed safety Chris Maragos to a three year contract extension that will keep him in Philadelphia through 2019. Since arriving in Philadelphia in 2014, the seven-year pro has led the team in special teams tackles.
On Friday, the Eagles signed both long-snapper Jon Dorenbos and punter Donnie Jones to three-year contract extensions.
Dorenbos is currently the longest-tenured Eagles, having joined the team in 2006, and has gained fame both on and off the field, most recently with his magical run on NBC’s America’s Got Talent.
Jones, known to Philly fans as Donnie Longball, has put up numerous franchise records since joining the team in 2013, including the highest net average (40.3), and the highest gross average (45.3).
Eagles fans are rejoicing at the thought of some of its special teams bests sticking around for a little while longer.
