The Red Sox needed a starter to come out and eat some innings and Clay Buchholz did just that at the Rodgers Centre tonight. Clay had a career high 117 pitches in eight innings while giving up just one earned run on seven hits. His great effort gave the beleaguered bullpen some much needed rest.
The Red Sox tied the game up 1-1 when Hermida drove in Ortiz with two outs in the second inning. The game would remain tied until the Jays walked Lowell with bases loaded in the eighth.
Ramon Ramirez got the call for the ninth and retired the Jays in order to pick up his second save in his MLB career.
