Just a full season removed from his playing career, Magglio Ordonez has found a new full-time job…as the mayor of Sotillo, an eastern Venezuelan city with approximately 250,000 residents.
The six-time All-Star's victory was announced Sunday at a political rally held by President Nicolas Maduro for pro-government candidates who won the majority of 335 races nationwide.
Oridonez played 15 seasons in the Majors for both the Chicago White Sox and Detroit Tigers, had a .309 career batting average and 294 home runs…the second most by a player born in Venezuela. Fellow countryman Andres Galarraga had 399.
